Oak Spring Road Bridge

Dukane Precast proudly contributed to the Oak Spring Road Bridge project by producing and erecting 18 high-quality IL36 precast beams, fulfilling a critical role in this infrastructure upgrade awarded through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). This bridge spans an impressive 250 feet with individual beam lengths ranging from 59.5 to 69 feet, and a total bridge length of 693.14 feet (0.13 miles). These precast beams were expertly manufactured to enhance the bridge’s structural integrity, ensuring long-lasting performance and sustainability.

Oak Spring Road Bridge Project

"Working with Dukane Precast was a terrific experience.  They were very professional, organized, and able to accommodate job changes seamlessly.  Dukane did a great job in coordinating the deliveries and getting the trucks directly to our crane in a timely manner.  A Plus." - Paul Lebert S&J Construction

Installation Highlights
Dukane Precast's efficient construction methods were showcased in this project, with all 18 precast beams erected in just 2 days. This rapid installation not only minimized disruption to the surrounding area but also helped streamline the project timeline. The use of IL36 precast beams provided consistency and quality, allowing for a straightforward and secure assembly process that enhances the bridge's overall durability and resilience.

Advantages of Using Precast Beams in Bridge Construction
Using precast beams for the Oak Spring Road Bridge project brought numerous advantages over traditional construction methods. Precast beams are manufactured in a controlled environment, ensuring quality, strength, and uniformity while reducing potential delays from weather conditions or other on-site challenges. Additionally, precast beams offer:

  • Improved Durability and Longevity: Precast concrete is resistant to weathering, erosion, and corrosion, making it ideal for infrastructure projects requiring long-lasting performance.

  • Efficient Installation: By fabricating beams off-site, the installation time on-site is significantly reduced. This minimized on-site construction timeline also decreases traffic interruptions, an essential benefit for busy roadways.

  • Environmental Benefits: Precast production minimizes waste and promotes resource efficiency, aligning with sustainable construction practices.

  • Lower Maintenance Costs: Precast concrete structures require less maintenance, offering a cost-effective solution for state and municipal infrastructure budgets.
